FIRE SPRINKLER TECHNICIAN
JOB SUMMARYAs a Fire Sprinkler Technician, you will work with some of the largest and most successful companies in the world and will be exposed to continued training and development in the fire sprinkler area. You will perform inspection, testing, and service of fire sprinkler systems, including wet sprinklers, pre-action sprinklers, dry standpipes, fire hydrants, and fire pumps. Experience with fire extinguishers is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- All team members must embody the company mission to provide protection for people, property, and the environment in all aspects of their job.
- Perform service, inspection, and testing tasks on fire sprinkler systems and related components according to applicable codes and standards and ORR work instructions.
- Perform annual and quarterly inspections and testing on fire sprinkler systems and associated equipment.
- Perform deficiency repairs.
- Perform 5-year inspections, testing, and repairs.
- Inspect pipes and piping systems to assess their quality.
- Submit thorough written reports and documentation as needed in a timely manner.
- Maintain company-supplied tools and equipment.
- Comply with company, customer, NFPA, and AHJ codes and regulations as applicable.
- Respond to emergency service requests and take appropriate action.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace system equipment.
- Review inspection and test results with the customer.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- NICET Level II certification in Water-Based Systems, required.
- Experience in inspection and testing of Fire Sprinkler Systems and Extinguishers, required.
- NAFED certification, required.
- Completed apprenticeship training programs that last 4–5 years and combine classroom instruction with paid, on-the-job training, preferred.
- Experience with the following Fire Sprinkler system types:
Wet, Dry, Stand Pipe, Pre-action, Deluge, Fire pumps, Backflow Prev enters, preferred.
- Ability to understand complex blueprints.
- Knowledge of NFPA codes for fire sprinkler pipe specifications.
- Ability to progress through NICET certification and/or to obtain local Fire Sprinkler licenses where applicable.
- Ability to develop rapport with co-workers and customers.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team.
- Strong time management skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Possess problem solving skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to work autonomously.
- Demonstrated customer service mindset.
- This is a remote position that would be deployed from the associate's home to local job sites for installs, service, or repairs.
- Company vehicle, tools, technology, and equipment provided.
- Occasional on-call days and/or overtime required for unscheduled service needs.
- Job duties require the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and crawl into tight or awkward places.
- Overnight travel required up to 25% of the time.
- All associates are required to pass a drug screen, background check and motor vehicle report.
