Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic

$30–$45/hr+ DOE | Occasional Overnight Travel (All Expenses Covered)

If you're an experienced mechanic who takes pride in keeping mission-critical vehicles running at their best, this is an opportunity to join a team that supports first responders and public-safety operations across the Pacific Northwest. You'll work with emergency-response fleets that communities rely on every day — equipment built for performance, reliability, and safety.

Your expertise directly contributes to ensuring these vehicles are ready when they're needed most.

This organization is known for delivering top-tier service, high-quality workmanship, and unwavering support to emergency agencies of all sizes — rural or urban, volunteer or professional. You'll be part of a team that values integrity, craftsmanship, and a commitment to excellence.

What You'll Do

You'll perform a mix of in-shop and mobile service work on diesel trucks and fire apparatus, supporting departments throughout Oregon and Washington.

  • Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks and fire trucks, including engines, electrical systems, brakes, and hydraulics
  • Perform mobile work such as PMs, repairs, and pump testing at fire stations across the region
  • Complete routine maintenance: fluid changes, filter replacements, component inspections
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning parts to manufacturer and industry standards
  • Collaborate with teammates to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Maintain accurate repair records, maintenance logs, and parts documentation
  • Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and site requirements
  • Perform safety inspections and prepare related documentation
  • Support additional duties as needed to keep operations running smoothly
What You Bring

You're the kind of mechanic who can diagnose issues quickly, communicate clearly, and deliver high-quality work that people can trust.

  • 5+ years of mechanical experience, preferably diesel
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and brake systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Willingness to travel 2–3 nights per month (all expenses paid, company vehicle provided)
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to safety
Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Drawing from the organization's mission and values:

  • You support real-world impact — your work keeps emergency vehicles ready for service, helping responders protect their communities
  • A trusted regional leader — known for exceptional service, high-quality equipment, and long-standing partnerships across the Pacific Northwest
  • Work with purpose-built vehicles — including fire apparatus, rescue units, and specialized emergency equipment
  • A culture built on integrity and service — technicians are respected for their expertise and supported with the tools they need
  • Diverse customer base — from small rural districts to major metropolitan agencies
  • Stable, growing environment — expanding capabilities and strong industry demand

This is a role where your mechanical skill truly matters — and where you can build a long-term career supporting equipment that saves lives.

Compensation & Travel

  • $30–$45/hr+ DOE
  • Company-paid travel (2–3 nights/month)
  • Company vehicle and credit card provided for all travel
