The City of Hillsboro seeks a Facilities Maintenance Specialist with a focus on the HVAC trade. The selected candidate will work both independently and as part of a team on a broad range of activities, including new installations, replacements, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance across city-owned facilities.
The team currently includes four members: two Facility Maintenance Specialists (mechanical and controls), one Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician (Preventative Maintenance), and an HVAC Mechanical Supervisor—responsible for overseeing the team.
This position offers a flexible 4–10 schedule designed to support work/life balance while allowing the employee to prioritize task sequencing and execution.
Current/Upcoming Projects- Facility shutdowns – perform maintenance during equipment downtime.
- RTU replacements across city sites.
- Building control replacements across city sites.
- Ongoing development of the Asset Management system for equipment.
- Weekly boiler checks and inspections.
- Inspections of mechanical systems.
The primary function is to conduct specialized maintenance and operational activities in the assigned area, including but not limited to
- Providing customer service as needed.
- Performing routine maintenance and repair of specialized equipment, infrastructure, and related items.
- Operating motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Inputting data into computerized systems and maintaining logs and records.
- Specialized work requiring an electrical license.
High School Diploma or GED with five (5) years of commercial maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.
Licensing & Certifications- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Pass extensive background investigation.
- HVAC Technician Certification.
- Limited Maintenance Electrician license (State of Oregon Building Codes) or equivalent; LEB preferred but not required.
- EPA 608 State of Oregon Certification.
- State Oregon Brazing Certification.
