General DescriptionThis position evaluates and provides occupational therapy services to children with mental and/or physical disabilities who are on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). The role also consults on or delivers direct service in assistive technology.
KeyQualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Valid state of Oregon Occupational Therapy license.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with children.
- Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification through RESNA (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license; available transportation and proof of auto insurance.

- Proficiency in computer and internet‑based applications (email, internet software, Google Suite, Microsoft Word).
- Ability to deliver oral presentations and written reports (OT assessments, parent and staff training) on occupational therapy topics such as self‑regulation, sensory processing, and fine motor and adaptive skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration, and community partners.
- Work collaboratively with parents and staff in support of the overall educational program and attend related cases meetings.
- Evaluate children to determine need for occupational therapy services and the appropriate level of service.
- Interpret data to design a treatment plan and re‑evaluate it annually via IEP or IFSP, reassessing eligibility as needed.
- Implement treatment plans for individuals or groups, providing training to instructional assistants and other team members.
- Maintain accurate records of evaluations and services, including assessment results, IEP/IFSP progress, and other documentation.
- Coordinate with other professionals and general staff to schedule and implement occupational therapy goals within the educational plan.
- Serve as a resource for medically related information for parents, school staff, and teachers.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers and specialists on appropriate motor activities, self‑help skills, sensory needs, adaptations, and assistive devices.
- Maintain communication with public and private agencies (e.g., Children’s Services Division, Shriners) regarding the child’s needs, progress, and safety.
- Train special education and general education staff, parents, and other team members on specific interventions.
- Fabricate and adapt specialized materials and devices to support child participation in education.
- Complete all district and state reporting requirements, documenting services using approved platforms such as ecWeb or SPED.
- Assist with departmental operations, including inventory maintenance and equipment ordering.
- Stay current with professional standards, pursuing professional growth and development.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
