** About the Opportunity:
** The Department of Juvenile Services is looking for a
** Juvenile Counselor II
** to join the Hillsboro-Beaverton Regions Team and help further our mission to protect the public by reducing delinquency and restoring victims and the community by holding youth this role, you will work directly with youth and families navigating the juvenile justice system while supporting behavioral change, coordinating services, and representing the department in court. This is a hands-on job that is impactful work for professionals who want to make a difference with structure, ethics, and support.
You will be able to build working relationships with youth and families to support positive changes, supervise youth on probation or informal supervision, conduct assessments and create case plans that balance accountability, growth, and safety. You will also be coordinating with schools, service providers, attorneys, and community partners. In addition, you will prepare court reports and confidently represent your cases in court.
** Hillsboro-Beaverton Regions Team
** The regional team supervises youth who are either on probation or on a FAA (Formal Accountability Agreement). The unit works closely with the court/assessment team on the court and transfer process. The teams are dedicated to identifying targeted case management and ensuring the completion of court-ordered requirements. Both Hillsboro and Beaverton regions work collaboratively with schools and assigned SROs (School Resource Officers).
Community collaboration with schools and treatment providers is an essential part of the job as the unit works closely with gang impacted families and high-risk youth.
*** Hillsboro* Regions** – Juvenile unit that supervises youth from Hillsboro, Cornelius, Forest Grove, Banks, North Plains, Gaston, and any other community in those areas in Washington County.
*** Beaverton Regions
- *** Juvenile unit that supervises youth who are either living in the school district or attending schools that are within the Beaverton School District. ** Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
*** Assess the needs of juveniles and provide appropriate case management plans.
* Knowledge of behavior and adjustment problems of juveniles.
* Perform public speaking and presentation effectively and professionally.
* Work as a team member.
* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and others from diverse groups and backgrounds.
* Experience in Juvenile Code and Juvenile Justice System.
* Caseload management.
