Material Handler

The Material Specialist supports Production Operations and Materials Management by receiving, storing, moving, and controlling inventory throughout the production and warehouse environments. This role is responsible for ensuring materials are accurately received, tracked, stored, and delivered to support production requirements while maintaining inventory accuracy and material traceability.

Duties include receiving and allocating materials, picking and kitting components for production, performing inventory transactions, cycle counting, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Material Specialist also supports continuous improvement initiatives and helps ensure efficient material flow throughout the facility.

Essential duties and responsibilities include receiving, verifying, and processing incoming materials and documentation; performing material movements including picking, kitting, transfers, replenishments, and replacements to support production requirements; executing inventory transactions in MRP and database systems to maintain accurate inventory records and material traceability; performing cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure system and physical inventory accuracy; maintaining floor stock and production inventory levels;

investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving inventory discrepancies; supporting inventory management processes and best practices, including cycle counting and Kanban systems; creating kits and staging materials for production activities; safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials throughout the facility; appropriately disposing of, recycling, and managing excess or obsolete materials in accordance with established procedures; assisting with developing, documenting, and improving material management processes;

maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment; and performing other duties as assigned.

Educational requirements/experience needed to perform the duties of this position include a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required, experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, materials management, or related roles, preferred minimum of two (2) years of experience in a materials, inventory, or warehouse-related position, working knowledge of inventory management principles, including receiving, picking, kitting, cycle counting, inventory control, and material handling processes, experience using MRP, ERP, or other inventory management systems, forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire, proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze inventory data and generate reports, strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities, ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday, ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions, ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, ability to move materials throughout warehouse, storage, and production environments, and ability to perform inventory counts and material handling activities with a high degree of accuracy.
