Job Summary

Responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning environment. Will be required to teach Dual Credit classes at dual credit locations.

Education

Master’s degree with 18 hours of graduate-level credit within the Instructional area (Environmental Science), or a combination of experience and education that yields the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred: 18 hours of graduate-level credit in Geology/Geo Science.

Experience

Experience teaching in higher education within the instructional area being taught.

Core Duties & Required Knowledge
  • Focus on details ensuring precision in lesson planning, assessment, and student engagement.
  • Communicate orally and in writing; interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Operate computers, standard office equipment, and various instructional technologies, including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, LMS, and distance‑learning tools.
  • Set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Work independently and thrive in team settings.
  • Think critically and apply problem‑solving skills.
  • Articulate and support Hill College values, Code of Conduct, and policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Exhibit excellent customer‑service skills, creating a welcoming environment for students and colleagues.
  • Continuously seek new concepts, skills, and experiences to enhance teaching practice.
  • Strong organization and time management critical for balancing instructional duties, administrative responsibilities, and professional commitments.
  • Understand guidelines of the state agency/accrediting agency for regulated departments.
  • Know regulations required for licenses and certifications.
  • Understand Hill College vision and mission.
Strategic Vision & Program Development

Contributes to the development and review of curriculum and general education assessment.

Collaboration

Participates as a faculty representative at convocations, commencement, and honors day assemblies; works individually and collaboratively with others to recruit and retain students.

Sets high standards in academic and scholarly excellence, personal integrity, and professional ethics; maintains professional development and engagement in the field.

Other Information

Security‑sensitive position. Travel for recruiting and performances as necessary.

Physical Requirements

Light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work.
