Master's degree in guidance and counseling from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate (certified as School Counselor)
If not fully certified as counselor: must be certified as a teacher at the grade level of this assignment; have 24 hours of graduate-level credit, including 12 semester hours in guidance and counseling; have 3 creditable years of classroom teaching experience; and be currently enrolled in accredited master's degree program for counseling
JOB DESCRIPTIONPlan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of guidance, including counseling services to campus. Use a planning process to define needs and priorities of population served. Provide a proactive, developmental guidance program for all students to maximize personal growth and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise assigned counseling aide(s) and clerical employee(s)
- Knowledge of appropriate testing procedures and master scheduling
Three years teaching experience.
