Responsibilities

Responsible for assigned aspects of the maintenance and operation of utility-scale PV power plants. Duties include monitoring PV plant operation through SCADA, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying AC and DC solar PV systems, including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switch gear, and metering systems.

Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a related position or journey-level certification.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems operation, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and using procedures to perform equipment preventative and corrective maintenance preferred.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • College or technical degree preferred.
  • Equivalent training in military, utility, or power industry a plus.
Physical and Technical Requirements
  • Bending, kneeling, twisting, ability to lift up to 70 pounds, climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods. Ability to work in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigate on uneven ground on foot.
  • Ability to differentiate between different colors to manage color-coded wiring.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Strong safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding Electrical schematics and prints.
  • Ability to retrieve relay files and documentation.
  • Fluent in CMMS systems for maintenance tracking.
  • Proficiency in Windows environments (Microsoft Office products).
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no direction within company compliance and work processes.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to complete Nova Source Technician Qualification Standards within 90 days of hire.
  • Perform to quarterly key performance indicators, such as energy generation, on-time planned maintenance, and overall plant and equipment efficiency.
  • Support a safe work environment by adhering to company protocols.
  • Maintain personal safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Comply with Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
  • With supervision, be responsible for PM work including measuring, reading, testing and performing maintenance procedures on site components.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and executing on-site projects, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing.
  • Assist with writing and enforcing work and equipment testing instructions and procedures, including normal and maintenance operating procedures.
  • Ensure work orders are complete and all documentation is reviewed, complete, submitted and filed.
  • Attend, participate in and pass all assigned training in safety, environmental and other areas as assigned.
  • Maintain 5S standards in work areas and site housing.
  • Verify SCADA site configuration.
  • Adhere to company vehicle maintenance and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
