Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Position Summary
Temp-to-Hire overnight warehouse associate (6 PM - 6 AM). The base hourly rate for this position is $22.27, with a starting wage of $19.50/Hour. The role is responsible for receiving, storing, distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products, and for supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience.
Responsibilities- Receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products.
- Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved.
- Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas using hand, hand truck, or electric hand truck.
- Show initiative supporting safety and plant-wide safety culture.
- Identify and report mechanical or operational difficulties with equipment.
- Use safe work practices and report hazardous conditions.
- Ensure accurate order picking and that orders meet shipping and receiving deadlines.
- Ensure high-quality loading workmanship and maximize FIFO while reducing scrap cost.
- Maximize storage space for finished goods and staging area.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and continuously comply with internal and external policies.
- Assist in cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and metrics are met.
- Assist with all receiving and shipping functions.
- Complete special projects directed by the distribution center manager or senior management.
There are no supervisory responsibilities for direct reports for this position.
Requirements- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in warehouse and distribution.
- Forklift experience required; sit‑down propane preferred.
- Ability to load and unload flatbeds and dry vans.
- Good communication skills, integrity, time management, organizational skills, basic computer skills, and understanding of appointment system.
The ability to stand for extended periods; manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely; use hands repetitively; work safely in a fast‑paced, dusty environment with temperature extremes; withstand the rigors of a 12‑hour rotating shift; bend, stoop, kneel, reach or work above shoulder; physically able to perform essential job functions.
