Project Manager - Water / Wastewater
Hillsborough, NJ
A multidiscipline engineering firm serving municipal and private clients across the region is hiring a Project Manager to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role manages projects from concept through construction and serves as the primary client contact, coordinating with internal civil/site, structural, GIS, survey, and traffic departments to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Schedule:
Full-time.
Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 per year
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage water and wastewater projects from concept to construction for public and private clients, overseeing the preparation of detailed engineering designs, plans, reports, and permitting documentation.
- As the main point of contact for clients, maintain strong working relationships and coordinate across internal departments, including civil/site, structural, GIS, survey, and traffic, to ensure comprehensive project outcomes.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and manage submittals and approvals.
- The role also includes managing budgets, schedules, and project teams to maintain quality and timeliness, along with mentoring junior staff and contributing to talent development within the department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey, or ability to obtain by reciprocity
- 6 or more years of progressive experience in water and wastewater engineering, including project leadership
- Strong understanding of water distribution, wastewater collection, treatment systems, and permitting processes
- Experience working with municipal clients and regulatory agencies
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydraulic modeling tools
- Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Experience with municipal clients and regulatory agencies in New Jersey and surrounding states
- Experience mentoring or developing junior engineering staff
