We are currently recruiting a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Somerset OB/GYN practice in Bridgewater & Hillsborough, NJ.

Office Hours

Mon/Wed - 7:30 a‑m to 7:30 p‑m
Tues/Thurs 7:30 a‑m to 4:30 p‑m
Fri 7:30 a‑m to 4:0 p‑m

Role Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant I plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality patient care by assisting physicians, providers, and nurses. Under the guidance of Axia Women’s Health patient protocol and care center physicians, the assistant professionally engages patients by recording critical patient information and providing information so that patients may fully utilize and benefit from our clinical services.

Essential Functions
  • Greet and acknowledge patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure they are comfortable.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and complete comprehensive clinical intake.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Perform and document accurate blood pressure, height and weight, and patient temperature.
  • Demonstrate appropriate chaperone technique and documentation.
  • Assist with patient examinations and office‑based procedures (e.g., colposcopy, IUD insertions, endometrial biopsies).
  • Administer medications and injections as ordered by providers.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Perform CLIA waived tests per Axia and Care Center Protocols.
  • Perform blood draws.
  • Enter and send medication and test orders per provider instructions via computerized physician order entry (CPOE).
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and keep exam rooms clean and stocked.
  • Provide information regarding procedures, medications, and follow‑up care.
  • Respond to patient inquiries in person and over the phone.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and follow‑up visits.
  • Perform Non‑stress Tests (NST) when instructed.
  • Ensure patient safety within clinical settings.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, nurses, and other staff to ensure efficient practice operations.
  • After competency training, assist in office‑based surgical procedures (e.g., LEEP, operative hysteroscopy, ablations, D&Cs) by preparing the procedure room, ensuring equipment availability, providing support during surgery, and handling post‑surgical processes.
  • Assist patients with mobility, including transferring them between examination rooms and treatment areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all SOPs and policies, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, and values by embodying its principles in daily activities, upholding high ethical standards, and contributing to a positive work environment.

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current national certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA) required.
