CITEL is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to add to our growing R&D team at its new Hillsborough, NC facility.
This role will play a key part in hands-on design work as well as cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, testing, and global R&D teams. This is a senior, individual-contributor role with opportunities to influence architecture, process and technical direction as the US R&D organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a strong mentor within the engineering group.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for electrical products
- Create and maintain 3D models and mechanical drawings using Solid Works
- Develop designs for wire routing, cable assemblies, and internal mechanical layouts
- Support prototype development, testing, and product validation
- Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper mechanical integration of electronic components
- Collaborate with manufacturing to support design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation
- Support product improvements and engineering changes as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in electromechanical or enclosure design
- Experience using Solid Works or similar 3D CAD software
- Experience designing mechanical enclosures or electromechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with cable routing and cable assembly documentation
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes
- Experience designing enclosures for electrical or electronic products
- Familiarity with sheet metal design and fabrication
- Experience with plastic components or injection molding
- Experience supporting products from development through production
- Experience supporting products from development through production
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Hands-on and comfortable working with prototypes and hardware
- Collaborative and able to work across engineering and manufacturing teams
