Mechanical Engineer

CITEL is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to add to our growing R&D team at its new Hillsborough, NC facility.

This role will play a key part in hands-on design work as well as cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, testing, and global R&D teams. This is a senior, individual-contributor role with opportunities to influence architecture, process and technical direction as the US R&D organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a strong mentor within the engineering group.

• Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for electrical products
• Create and maintain 3D models and mechanical drawings using Solid Works
• Develop designs for wire routing, cable assemblies, and internal mechanical layouts
• Support prototype development, testing, and product validation
• Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper mechanical integration of electronic components
• Collaborate with manufacturing to support design for manufacturability (DFM)
• Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation
• Support product improvements and engineering changes as required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in electromechanical or enclosure design
• Experience using Solid Works or similar 3D CAD software
• Experience designing mechanical enclosures or electromechanical assemblies
• Familiarity with cable routing and cable assembly documentation
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes

• Experience designing enclosures for electrical or electronic products
• Familiarity with sheet metal design and fabrication
• Experience with plastic components or injection molding
• Experience supporting products from development through production
• Experience supporting products from development through production

• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Hands-on and comfortable working with prototypes and hardware
• Collaborative and able to work across engineering and manufacturing teams
