Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring Adjunct Instructors for the EMS Education Pathway. EMS Instructors are responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and attendance management of each course assigned. The EMS Instructor will work closely with the Program Director ensuring all instructional and internal/external compliance records are maintained.

* Participate in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the EMS Program course offerings.

* Prepare and delivers instruction or supervises students engaging in EMS skill activities.

* Evaluates student performances, provides feedback, and develops plans for successful student outcomes.

* Engage DTCC "Success Coaches" for successful student outcomes.

* Fulfills the EMS Program administrative requirements to include: grade entry, maintaining program currency (updated syllabi/electronic platforms), & other student records as required (records, data, & outcomes as applicable).

* Participates in professional development as necessary to maintain the applicable EMS certification & DTCC basic competencies.

* Adhere to the established Durham Tech & departmental policies and procedures relevant to quality and safety standards.

* Participate in the promotion of the EMS Program as an Adjunct Instructor for the recruitment and marketing of Durham Tech classes.

* Complete all mandatory training.

* Valid credentials as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic (NC or National Registry) and/or current healthcare professional license/certification as listed.  

* Education Methodology (enrollment within one year)

Work Experience:

* Two years of work experience as an active EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic in a 911 system.

* Other instructor candidates may be considered based on subject matter expertise (Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Physician Assistant or other medical provider as deemed eligible by the Program Director) and/or validated by the EMS Program instructional team as a subject matter expert.

* Knowledge of EMS theory, practice, and trends.

* Knowledge of current EMS curriculum and education standards.

* Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service practices.

* Adaptiveness to the EMS curriculum that meets NCOEMS, regional, and national standards.

* Knowledge of the North Carolina EMS System educational rules and regulations at the applicable EMS instructional level.

* Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies.

* Provide skill demonstrations and facilitate student mastery of applicable skills.

* Ability to evaluate student performance and provide professional feedback.

* Ability to promote critical thinking and problem-solving to meet competencies.

* Ability to adhere to established standards for educational quality.

* Ability to maintain accurate educational records.

* Knowledge of the EMS Program Accreditation (SACs/CoAEMSP) process & standards.

* Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

* Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

* Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.
