Description
Hillsborough Hospital 2nd Floor Diagnostic Tower is seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of medical floor (Med‑Surg) experience, preferably with ACLS (BLS required), and a team player. The Diagnostic Tower will consist of 10 beds with acute level medical‑surgical patients focusing on Cardiology and Hospitalist populations and will be open 24/7.
UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus is a community hospital extension of UNC Medical Center focusing on many elective surgical programs. The 163‑bed facility combines a community hospital culture with the innovative procedures and care known to UNC Medical Center. The Hillsborough Hospital has achieved accreditation by The Joint Commission's disease‑specific program for its Total Hip and Knee Replacement service and was designated Dementia Friendly in 2019, aiming to provide high‑quality, individualized, patient‑centered care for patients with dementia.
Located at 430 Waterstone Drive, Hillsborough, NC, just off I‑40 with free on‑campus parking.
Hours:
12‑hour shifts, day or night shifts available.

SummaryProvides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities- Education – participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self, attends education programs, uses patient education materials, assesses readiness to learn, and evaluates developmental level affecting learning.
- Evaluation of Care – identifies expected patient outcomes, seeks guidance to revise the plan of care, participates in interdisciplinary discussions, and communicates relevant information for continuity of care.
- Implementation – demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, performs bedside point of care testing, uses policies and procedures, prioritizes care, and consults resources for complex issues, teaching needs, or high‑risk discharge planning.
- Leadership – develops goals for professional growth, achieves objectives, understands collaboration activities, participates in unit goals and improvement activities, uses communication systems effectively, promotes cost‑effective care, provides feedback to co‑workers, and upholds safety, cleanliness, and security.
- Patient Assessment – recognizes data from complex situations, determines priorities, identifies physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs, synthesizes data for communication, anticipates discharge needs, and builds relationships with families.
- Planning – collaborates with patient/family to update plans of care, uses multidisciplinary resources, communicates planning, addresses cultural and ethnic issues, and prioritizes tasks for complex patients.
- Research – reads relevant journals, brings ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.
- Graduated from a professional nursing school.
- If hired after January 6 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing within seven years of employment.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- One year of nursing experience.
