Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Hillsborough Family Practice

Location and ScheduleDuke Primary Care Hillsborough provides comprehensive, family-centered care for patients of all ages.
Location:
267 South Churchton Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
Schedule:
8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.
- Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by the doctor and maintain records
- Provide direct care to patients under supervision of a nurse or doctor
- Follow the doctor's orders and nursing care plan for patient care
- Report patient responses to care to a nurse for evaluation and adjustments to the care plan
- Assist other healthcare staff in delivering patient care
- Help doctors and nurses with diagnostic procedures
- Assess nursing care, patient responses, and prioritize nursing tasks
- Help develop and implement policies to ensure patient comfort and safety and participate in creating new policies
- Contribute to maintaining the care environment, including equipment and supplies
- Identify and assist in improving clinical and operational performance
- Assist in managing supplies and equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the charge nurse
- Participate in training programs and help train new staff
- Perform other related duties as needed
Education
- Work requires graduation from an approved or accredited Practical Nurse program
Experience
- No experience required
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
- Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required
Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience
- Ability to find resources independently and work well with others
- Clear communication with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, and leadership; able to teach patients and families based on the care plan
- Ability to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up using sensory and cognitive functions
- Competent in BLS and other required life support certifications
- Proficient in fine motor skills
- Accurately record activities and document interventions
- Ability to use computers and learn new software
- Navigate the healthcare system to provide patient care
- Able to stand and walk for long periods
- Stay focused and organized
- Knowledge of sterile techniques and procedures relevant to the role
- Familiarity with administering routine and special treatments
- Understanding of sanitation, hygiene, and health safety in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of and compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
