- Provide occupational experiences for identified students
- Provide job development activities to secure job sites for placements and job shadowing experiences.
- Provide job coaching for students placed in community employment.
- Maintain effective communication with Transition Coordinator regarding program activities.
- Maintain documentation of goals, strategies, and progress for all students.
- Utilize effective job coaching techniques including task analysis, prompts, and fading.
- Provide follow-up and support services as needed.
- Assist in transportation arrangements for employees who are placed in community and/or transport as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in program evaluation and revise program as required.
- Assist Transition Coordinator with job club activities as needed.
- Assist with the implementation of transition plans, which result from the IEP meetings.
- Participate in or conduct meetings with parents regarding transition or employment in coordination with the Transition Coordinator.
- Represent the transition project to the public as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Project Search Skills Trainer requires a high school diploma or GED, a 2 year degree is preferred. Candidates are also preferred to have experience working with individuals with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently without direct on-site supervision. The role demands a candidate with exceptional patience, compassion, and the ability to communicate effectively, always ensuring professional interactions.
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation is required. Certifications in CPR, first aid, and NCI+ are preferred but can be provided by the employer. Finally, candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
OE Enterprises is a non-profit company with 50 years of experience serving individuals with disabilities in North Carolina. The Community Employment Specialist will be responsible for helping people with disabilities to find and maintain competitive employment.
This role involves connecting individuals seeking employment with local employers and providing assistance through assessment, job readiness training, job matching, and job coaching to help them achieve independence. The goal is to increase the number of individuals with disabilities placed in integrated employment within Orange, Alamance, Randolph, and surrounding counties while decreasing the number of individuals in segregated employment.
