Job DescriptionLocate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is complying with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.
Locating technicians may work independently or as part of a team, reporting to a supervisor as required. The role requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and/or tools.

Responsibilities- Perform underground facility locates by using transmitters and appropriate equipment.
- Work in various terrains and weather conditions in construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to route and execute tasks efficiently.
- Conduct regular, overtime, and holiday locates, including emergency/on-call duties as required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and third parties to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Maintain knowledge of tools and technology necessary for locating work.
- Work collaboratively in supervised team environments.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
- State‑issued driver's license.
- Problem‑solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to read and interpret multiple types of prints.
- Experience with vacuum truck systems (preferred).
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for several hours.
- Strong communication skills.
- Pass a background screening (no violations within the last 5 years).
- Pass a DOT drug test.
