Our Recreation Department is looking for a Casual Guest Experience Representative to join the team.
Position Responsibilities- Set the stage for the Recreation facilities' first impression and ongoing commitment to service excellence.
- Provide exceptional service and detailed information about recreation department offerings, including memberships and programming opportunities to guests and members.
- Anticipate and personalize service for each guest, creating an exceptional, safe, and stress‑free experience.
- Facilitate access to the facility through membership or drop‑in payment.
- Handle various forms of payment including cash, debit and credit cards.
- Ensure the Recreation Department guidelines and procedures are followed in accordance with safety and other regulating standards.
- Accurately complete registration and membership sales transactions with the membership and registration management system.
- Sell services, memberships or program opportunities through genuine curiosity, knowledge and engagement of guests.
- Handle concerns with empathy and solve guest challenges with empowerment.
- Maintain eye contact, smile and a genuine interest with each guest and coworker.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to teamwork in a family‑friendly and community‑focused atmosphere.
- Provide leadership in safety emergencies as outlined in our health and safety program.
- Natural communicator with a genuinely positive and empathetic personality.
- Proven experience in the customer service industry, with no less than 2 years’ experience in a guest‑facing role.
- Proficient with computers and recent experience working with a Windows‑based software environment.
- Experienced and accurate in cash handling and reconciliation.
- Flexible to work shift work on a rotational schedule which includes early mornings, days, late evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment.
- Ability to use handheld radios and microphones to communicate with operation teams and make facility announcements.
- Professional, well‑groomed appearance, able to represent the Recreation Department and the City of Grande Prairie brand to guests and teammates.
- Fluency in the English language, both oral and written (fluency in another language may be considered an asset).
- First Aid Certification is an asset.
This position is casual/on‑call, with hours scheduled as required and determined by the immediate supervisor.
CompensationStarting salary of $22.83 per hour as per the Out‑of‑Scope Agreement.
