Polymer/Thermoplastic Technical Manager
Location:
Hillside (main), NJ (Travel to VA facility as required)
Reports to General Manager
Technical Manager will drive technological innovation and programs within organizations. This is a hands-on position where the Technical Manager will oversee and undertake the research, development, scale-up and manufacturing quality. The Technical Manager requires a strong technical background combined with leadership experience and business acumen.
Job Responsibilities:- Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with business goals – new products and improve products and processes.
- Measure and report progress of product development and R&D.
- Provide technical support - supporting the sales groups and customers with complex technical requirements. Travel to customer or project sites as required. Provide technical presentation as required.
- Bridge the gap between manufacturing and Sales and Customers.
- Lead and mentor a team of technical professionals.
- Undertake R&D activities and lab testing. Liaise with external lab as required.
- Manage Technical Data Sheets, MSDS and other compliance documents for Customers.
- Maintain ISO 9001 Quality Management system. Undertake internal audits as required.
- Write Standard Operating Procedures and oversee QC inspection test plans for new products and existing products earmarked for improvements. Validating all test framework and lab processes meet regulated industry specifications and/or customers’ needs.
- Assist GM with any other technical / process related tasks, as needed.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science or Textile Engineering.
- +5 years of hands-on experience in polymer processing, technical textiles, coatings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management skills and team leadership.
- Experience with common standard frameworks – ISO, ASTM, AS/NZ, etc.
