Position SummaryHi Accounting seeks a Staff Accountant to join its outsourced accounting division. The primary responsibility is the preparation of accounting work papers and reconciliations to support the issuance of financial statements and management reports. The candidate should be self‑driven, client‑service focused, and passionate about accounting.
Reports to the Director of Accounting under the supervision of an Accounting Manager and/or Senior Accountant.
Technical Responsibilities- Prepare and organize work papers and reconciliations for financial statements closing.
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable aging, accounts payable aging, intercompany loans, debt, retained earnings/equity, and departmentalized revenue and expenses.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports.
- Assist in preparing budgets and variance analysis.
- File general excise tax returns and other regulatory reports as needed.
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll taxes using technology partner APS.
- Organize and prioritize work, communicating status with senior/manager.
- Understand general business law, entity formation and types.
- Stay current on regulatory and industry changes to respond to client needs.
- Deliver best‑in‑class customer service, being proactive, responsive, professional, and accurate.
- Understand clients’ businesses and industries; work closely with management to define service needs.
- Act as or be part of the team serving as the primary liaison with client personnel, ensuring deadlines are met and managing client expectations regarding deliverables, budgets, and timelines.
- Develop relationships with clients and attend client events.
- Maintain positive working relationships with client employees and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
- Embrace a team‑based approach to client service.
- Encourage collaboration, open communication, and problem solving within the team.
- Track and record time accurately; understand engagement agreements and identify services outside scope.
- Identify new opportunities for clients and promote other company services that aid their business.
- Assist with new client implementation, preparing chart of accounts, financial reports, and month‑end close processes.
