Salary: $6,221 to $7,568 per month (SR-24, Step D to I)
Job OverviewThe immediate position involves conducting analyses and participating in the development, implementation, improvement, maintenance, and control of the statewide central accounting system. The work supports fiscal control, record‑keeping, and reporting needs of individual departments and the central accounting agency.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work
:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment to be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. - Basic Education
:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university with at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects. - Accounting Experience
: 3½ years of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience, including teaching accounting at the university level, is required. - Systems Accounting Experience
:
Two years of experience in one or more of the following areas:- A. Experience as a member of a project team for the development and/or implementation of a major, integrated accounting system, or for major analysis of existing accounting procedures and the implementation of changes to establish such a system.
- B. Experience responsible for or participating in the maintenance and control of an accounting system for a large business entity, including analysis and resolution of accounting problems and provision of advice to operations or fund control accountants.
- C. Other professional accounting or auditing experience involving identification of accounting problems and recommending changes that required modification of an organization‑wide accounting system.
- Supervisory Aptitude
:
Demonstrated potential for supervisory duties through successful completion of assignments involving supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, such as serving as a group or team leader, completion of supervisory training courses, or favorable supervisor appraisals. - Substitutions Allowed:
