This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Division of Consumer Advocacy, Administration branch. The position is located on Oahu (Downtown Honolulu). Salary commensurate with education and experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe position provides administrative support to the Public Utilities/Transportation Officer and Executive Director in the administration of the daily operations of the Division and assists with the planning, coordination, budgeting, execution, and oversight of Division administrative and support needs.
EducationGraduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
ExperienceGeneral
Experience:
One and one half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience which required a high degree of analytical skill.
Administrative
Experience:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional administrative experience in one or a combination of the following areas: program development and implementation, program administration, and project management.
Substitution Allowed:
An advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required Administrative Experience.
- Knowledge of management, project management, and administration.
- Knowledge of available sources and types of information and methods of analysis and application.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of the Division; applicable Hawaii Revised Statutes, rules, etc.; the legislative process; the budget process; and comprehensive research and analytical techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, implement, and execute administrative support activities.
- Ability to carry out the functions of the position; read and comprehend laws, rules, regulations; communicate effectively with a diverse audience - orally and in writing; use discretion and maintain confidentiality; develop and maintain effective working relationships with others; give and receive verbal and written instructions; work and make appropriate decisions without supervision; process work independently and with attention to detail;
identify and resolve problems in a timely and effective manner; respond to management direction; work in a fast-paced environment; manage multiple tasks; prioritize conflicting demands; use time efficiently; initiate work activities independently; work under stressful conditions; maintain a professional appearance and demeanor; and maintain regular attendance. - Competence in word processing, database and spreadsheet software applications for personal computers.
This position is exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be "at will," which means that you may be discharged from your employment from the department head or designee at any time.
