ResponsibilitiesThese positions perform secretarial services as the primary work assignment, along with minor administrative, clerical, and related services for a program manager. The program manager is at a level in the State's hierarchy that requires significant involvement in planning, programming, budgeting, work direction, coordination, liaison, and public relations.
An Administrative Assistant speaks and acts for the manager or administrator served in those delegated matters to facilitate workflow, coordination, and management controls, and relationships with others within and outside the organization.
The Administrative Assistant serves as a secretary to a manager of a program and organization of modest complexity; may supervise and participate in performing complex clerical work; and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualification Requirements- Legal authorization to work: U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law.
- General clerical experience:
Six (6) months of work that demonstrates knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, and the ability to read, understand, speak, and write clearly. - Specialized clerical experience:
One (1) year of progressively responsible typing and/or substantive clerical work that demonstrates knowledge of common office appliances, equipment, and the ability to carry out procedures in clerical work systems and perform secretarial tasks. - Keyboarding/computer skill:
Some positions require keyboarding proficiency at 40 net words per minute, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Shorthand/dictation skill:
Some positions require the ability to take and transcribe dictation accurately at 80 net words per minute, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Applicants may be tested on keyboarding, computer, shorthand, or dictation skills. Failure to demonstrate the minimum may result in removal from the list of eligible applicants.
