ProjectThis recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH‑HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast‑tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.
Salary$5,107 to $6,221 per month (SR‑20, Step D to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Position OverviewThe Administrative Specialist aids in getting things done through knowledge of and skill in dealing with organizations, workflow processes, funding, resources, equipment and other tools of management. The focus of the work is on management of financial and human resources; however, this series also performs key work in several other vital functions such as program evaluation, budgeting, procurement, service contract negotiations, reports management, data processing and similar activities.
LevelLevel III position responsible for assisting a higher‑level Specialist or Officer in overseeing the administrative aspects of a program and organization. Duties include managing operational details; providing guidance and advice to component units; overseeing conformance to administrative plans, policies and procedures; serving as liaison between the program and other offices and agencies; and performing other duties as assigned.
Legal Authorization to WorkThe State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the state to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EducationGraduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Specialized ExperienceOne and one‑half (1‑1/2) years of business administration, public administration, or other responsible professional experience requiring high analytical skill (e.g., operation management, business analyst, budget/fiscal analyst) and involving evaluation and improvement of managerial policies, systems, work methods or practices, personnel needs, and quality of services rendered.

Driver’s LicenseSome positions require possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
