Global Engagement & Business Development Manager Job Description

The position serves as a strategic liaison for developing and managing external partnerships and revenue-generating educational initiatives. This role is responsible for identifying market opportunities, developing programs, securing new clients and institutional partners, negotiating business agreements, managing and maintaining accounts, and overseeing project implementation from concept to final product. The goal is to ensure that HTIC’s educational and on-campus resources are fully utilized.

Essential

Functions
  • Identify and cultivate new business ventures.
  • Develop relationships with schools, universities, corporations, sports organizations, government agencies, and community partners.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and service contracts.
  • Expand HTIC’s client and partner portfolio.
  • Develop and manage programs, including but not limited to:
  • Short-term educational programs
  • Executive and professional training
  • Sports and cultural exchange programs
  • Facility-based partnership programs
  • Customize educational experiences
  • Serve as the main point of contact for assigned partners
  • Execute and manage approved projects, ensuring active involvement throughout all phases
  • Communicate and act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders involved in the projects
  • Monitor quality, schedules, and financial performance
  • Ensure and maintain client satisfaction and business relationships
  • Develop a diversified portfolio of programs and partnerships
  • Able to achieve annual objectives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chancellor
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university at time of appointment; plus four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Meticulous organization and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate in duties performed.
  • Ability to handle diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Flexible schedule (some weekends, evenings, and holidays).
  • Strong English and Japanese language proficiency (advanced reading/writing and listening/speaking).
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Previous work experience in business development and project management.
  • Experience working with international populations.
  • Study abroad experience.
Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required; start and end times may vary) with 30-minute lunch.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Ability to supervise other employees, including part-time staff, in accordance with HTIC policies and applicable laws.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Repetitive hand and finger movement due to typing/writing.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to lift, pull, move, and/or push up to 20 pounds.
  • Speak and hear; operate a computer terminal and office equipment.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret written data (text and numeric).
  • Interpret written and/or verbal instructions; synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Work primarily in a modern, air-conditioned office environment; may work outdoors occasionally.
  • Noise level typically quiet to moderate.
  • Use standard office equipment including computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
