Position: BUILDING CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR II - MAUI (OHHI)

Location:

Wailuku/Kahului, Maui.

Salary: $6,090 to $6,704 per month (SR-19, Step C-I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

Responsibilities

Inspect and measure construction materials used, check methods employed during construction, inspect the erection of falsework and concrete forms, accept or reject concrete forms, construction equipment and materials based on specifications or modifications approved by a higher‑level inspector, keep detailed records of work completed and materials used, prepare and submit routine inspection reports as directed, prepare monthly progress reports concerning the construction project, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Legal Authorization to Work: U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent resident aliens, or eligible under federal law.
  • General

    Experience:

    2 years of Journeyman level experience in building construction trades, including knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety requirements, and ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Specialized Experience (1 year):
    • Building construction inspection work experience.
    • Supervisory work experience over skilled trades workers, responsible for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship and materials for adherence to such plans and specifications.
  • Basic Experience/

    Education:

    Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations.
  • Driver’s License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver’s license at appointment.
  • Lift and Carry: Ability to lift and carry objects of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.
