Salary: $6,090 to $6,704 per month (SR-19, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential.

Position Overview:

Full performance level for building construction inspection work involving a broad range of inspection functions for a variety of construction operations, materials, and methods under varying conditions and requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and measure construction materials used, and check methods employed in the construction.
• Inspect the erection of false work and concrete forms used.
• Accept or reject concrete forms, construction equipment and materials based on specifications or modifications approved by a higher level inspector.
• Keep detailed records of work completed and materials used.
• Prepare and submit routine inspection reports as directed.
• Prepare monthly progress reports concerning the construction project.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Legal Authorization to Work:
  Must be a citizen, national, permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
• Basic Experience/
  
  Education:
  
  Experience including tasks that demonstrate the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations.
• General
  
  Experience:
  
  Two (2) years of journey level experience in the building construction trades, demonstrating knowledge of building construction methods, materials, safety requirements, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  One (1) year of either:
  • A. Building construction inspection work experience;
  • B. Supervisory work experience over skilled trades workers in the building construction industry, with responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship and materials for adherence to such plans and specifications.
• Driver's License:
  Valid driver's license at the time of appointment (required for the immediate vacancy).
• Lift and Carry:
  Ability to lift and/or carry objects of varying weights; substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.
• Federal Criminal History Records Check:
  Must undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be free of disqualifying convictions within ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
