This position is with Defense Health Agency located at the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic, Psychiatry Services, on Schofield Barracks, HI.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

ResponsibilitiesServes as a Physician (Psychiatry) in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) responsible for providing examinations, diagnoses, and treatment of diseases affecting mental health including the brain, nervous system, substance abuse of drugs or chemicals, and personality disturbances.
Duties- Provide treatment services including inpatient, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, tele‑psychiatric services, routine/intensive outpatient services.
- Develop treatment plans and provide appropriate therapeutic treatment services that may include medication management, various individual therapy modalities, and group therapy.
- Monitor treatment through evidence‑based medicine and alter course of treatment providing follow‑up care for adult patients with mental health and behavioral disorders.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment.
- Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving rare, complicated, and multifaceted cases that require advanced treatments.
- Provide professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff such as psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers.
- Serve as member of local Medical Evaluation Boards for assessment and determination of duty.
- Conduct training and provide supervision over psychiatric residents, interns, medical students, psychology interns, and other medical and mental health trainees.
- Makes recommendations on improvement of work methods and organizational features while serving on committees or working groups that review and establish new treatment guidelines or update policy for mental health across the service component.
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs.
- Serve as member of the professional medical staff and provide advisory and consultative services on various local and national meetings, committees, conferences, and/or boards.

Basic Requirement For Physician (Psychiatry)Degree:
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed pre‑medical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
