Primary Purpose

Under the direction of the Director of Community Relations, the Workforce Development (WFD) Program Manager is responsible for execution of organizational workforce development strategies by developing, implementing and managing external and internal WFD programs. These include the High School Blood Bank Collections Specialist (Phlebotomist), University of Hawaii Donor Recruitment, and Center of Excellence Programs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strategic collaborative relationships

    • Works with Director of Community Relations and BBH leadership to build, strengthen, and maintain strategic relationships with collaborator organizations to support, implement, and expand WFD programs. External relationships in government, education, and business sectors include Dept. of Education leadership, high school administrators, classroom teachers, vendors, and community leaders.
    • Supports WFD program fundraising and marketing efforts by providing content and by participating in presentations and events.
  • Program/curriculum development and execution

    • Plans and creates course pacing guides, curricula, lesson plans, and student/trainee assessment tools to align with appropriate accreditation standards and training program structure. Updates and maintains these plans to stay current with changing expectations and program evolution.
    • Following the course guides, prepares instruction materials, software, and tools to execute the training / daily instruction, customizing for the training environment, eg- high school Academy classroom, BBH training center, simulation lab, or donor center production sites.
    • Delivers engaging lessons, facilitates class activities and discussions, completes and presents both formal assessments and informal constructive feedback to students/trainees. Provides student/trainees opportunities for additional assistance, as needed, to meet expectations.
    • Collaborating with other trainers, DOE teachers, or other faculty, maintains a safe and inclusive classroom environment, managing student behavior and addressing classroom conflicts.
    • Maintains thorough and accurate training and assessment records to comply with SOP and standards.
  • Program management

    • Performs audits of training records, as requested. Functions as programmatic lead for internal and external audits of the training program.
    • As the program subject matter expert, provides presentations and reports related to training programs, as requested.
    • Participates in special projects to implement new initiatives, improve processes, or enhance operations.
    • Participates in department meetings, continuing education programs, and other associated organization wide management activities.
    • Coordinates with the Director of Community Relations, teachers, and BBH management to evaluate the program and realize opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Works with Director of Community Relations to monitor and manage program budget and key performance indicators, keeping the Director apprised of changes and potential solutions or ideas.
    • Incorporates customer service in all training and serves as a resource and positive role model by demonstrating the behavior expected of staff. Set the right example by acting in a manner that exemplifies BBH’s values and inspires others to excellence.
