Lecturer applicant pool for Academic Year 2025 - 2026. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance and availability of funding. May be for courses during the day, evening, off-campus, and/or via distance learning, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Courses that may be covered by a Computer Science (CS) lecturer are described in the UH-Hilo catalog: -courses
* Teach assigned courses in the computer science curriculum.
* Maintain minimum of one on-campus in-person office hour per week for each course taught.
* Prepare course schedule, syllabus, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
* Work under the supervision of the computer science chairperson.
* Commitment to principles of higher education and philosophy is essential.
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in computer science or in an area closely related to the course(s) taught.
Desirable Qualifications
* PhD in the appropriate subject area.
* Experience teaching computer science courses at university or community college level.
* Demonstrated ability to work with effectively with university or college age students.
* Ability to work with diverse student population.
