Conditions:

General funds, to begin approximately August 2026, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. This position may be converted from 9 to 11 months or 11 to 9 months based on operational needs. This position is located on the East Hawaii campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Under general supervision, instruct students in transfer level creative media courses to include: digital video, motion graphics, digital drawing/illustration, graphic design, 2-D and 3-D animation.

* Workload involves in-person teaching but may include various off-campus locations island-wide, day or evening classes, weekend classes, and distance education classes using multiple teaching methodologies as assigned.

* Ensures all federal, state and university safety regulations and practices are promoted and followed to ensure a safe learning environment.

* Facilitates equipment purchases and maintenance activities involving the creative media program.

* Develops teaching strategies, instructional materials, and methods that incorporate computer graphic applications in instruction.

* Prepares and revises course outcomes and participates in curriculum planning and assessment.

* Prepares, revises, and assesses course objectives and student learning outcomes at the course, program and college levels.

* Plans, organizes and carries out instructional and non-instructional assignments, including program assessment and reviews.

* Maintains a minimum of one office hour, in person, per week for each course taught.

* Conducts academic advising of students and assists in campus-related student activities.

* Mentors and advises students.

* Develops and maintains an approved program of professional self-improvement activities.

* Participates in department, college and community service, including but not limited to committee and recruitment activities as appropriate.

* Assists with/participates in campus related activities and in-service training.

* Engages in public service and professional/scholarly activities related to the profession.

* Demonstrated commitment to community college mission.

* Maintains current certifications if applicable.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

* a) Master's degree in Fine Arts in Studio Art with the specialization in new media art or a related area of study (i.e., design, animation, digital art, digital media, multi-media, computer graphics, film, etc.), and 1 year related industry experience; or,

* b) Any Master's degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study, and 3 years related industry experience; or,

* c) Any Bachelor's degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study, and 5 years related industry experience; or,

* d) Any Associate degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study, and 7 years related industry experience

Desirable

Qualifications:

* Teaching experience at the community college level, as substantiated by student and peer evaluations, with a strong teaching background in digital video, motion graphic design, digital drawing/illustration, graphic design, 2-D and 3-D animation.

* Extensive knowledge of computer graphics editing applications:
Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro 7/X, and DaVinci Resolve.

* Extensive knowledge of motion graphics applications:
Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Blender.

* Extensive knowledge of audio editing applications:
Adobe Audition and Audacity.

* Ability to work in a professional manner with peers, administrators, and members of the business community.

* Demonstrated commitment and/or experience supporting the success of students.
