Minimum Qualifications

The Hawaii State Department of Education requires a Bachelor’s Degree for all teaching, librarian, or counselor positions, except for designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) roles.

Licensing Requirements
  • Upon hire you must possess a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit.
  • If hired without a license, you have up to 3 years to obtain one and must enroll in a Hawaii Teacher Education Program to continue employment.
  • Each year of employment you must demonstrate active pursuit toward meeting Hawaii licensing requirements set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).

Payday

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first three pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or the previous business day) of each month.
