Conditions:

Lecturer applicant pool for Academic Year 2026 - 2027. Positions are part-time, temporary, non-tenure, and contingent upon course offerings, sufficient student enrollment, position clearance and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day, evening, weekend, and/or via distance learning, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses in the appropriate discipline. Course offerings are for the following:
    • FOR 202 Forestry & Natural Resources (lecture/lab)
    • FOR 340 Remote Sensing GIS in Forestry
    • FOR 350 Tropical Silviculture (lecture/lab)
    • FOR 360 Urban Forestry
    • FOR 440 Forest Ecosystems Restoration/Mgt (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 262 Principles of Horticulture (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 263 Hydroponics and Vegetables (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 303 Intro Plant Tissue Culture (lecture/
    • HORT 353 Organic Crop Production (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 450 Advanced Plant Tissue Cult (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 451 Plant Improvement (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 471 Post Harvest Handling (lecture/lab)
    • HORT 481 Weed Science (lecture/lab)
    • PPHY 310 Plant Growth/Develop (lecture/lab)
    • PPTH 404 Tropical Plant Pathology (lecture/lab)
    • PPTH 405 Plant Disease Diagnosis (lecture/lab)

  • Prepare course schedule, syllabus, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under the supervision of discipline chairperson.
  • Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  • Commitment to principles of higher education and philosophy is essential.
  • Possible evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments, and also distance learning assignments for courses taught via the Internet. (For some teaching fields, openings may only be available for classes offered off-campus or taught via the internet).

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, or Agriculture
  • Experience teaching college students in the subject matter.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • PhD in the appropriate field
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student population.
