Opening Statement
Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking a warm and dependable Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to support our Kinder hale classroom for the 2026–2027 school year. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with young children in a nurturing, rhythmical, and play‑based environment rooted in Waldorf early childhood principles.
The assistant works in partnership with the Lead Teacher to provide loving care, support daily classroom activities, and help create a calm and consistent atmosphere for children ages 3–6.
AboutMālamalama Waldorf School is located on the east side of Hawaiʻi Island in Keaʻau, serving children from early childhood through middle school. Our campus sits on beautiful land surrounded by nature, offering an environment where children can grow in connection with the natural world. As a Waldorf school, we are committed to educating the whole child through a balance of academic, artistic, and practical work.
Our early childhood program emphasizes play, rhythm, imagination, and reverence for childhood. We value collaboration among faculty and strong, respectful relationships with families.
Job Duties
- Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a nurturing, play‑based classroom rooted in Waldorf early childhood principles
- Provide attentive and loving care for children ages 3–6
- Assist with daily classroom rhythm, including transitions, meals, rest, and outdoor play
- Help prepare and maintain a clean, orderly, and welcoming classroom environment
- Participate in songs, movement, storytelling, and practical activities
- Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development
- High school diploma or equivalent
- DHS Preschool Assistant Teacher certification, or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Genuine care for young children and interest in Waldorf education
This is a full-time, in-person position located in Keaʻau, Hawaiʻi.
ScheduleMonday–Thursday: 7:15 am – 2:45 pm
Friday: 7:15 am – 12:45 pm
Starting at $16.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
