Position Summary
The University of Hawaii at Hilo (UH Hilo) is a public liberal arts and sciences university on the Island of Hawaii, recognized for its integration of cultural immersion and place-based research that leverages the island's extraordinary geological, biological, and cultural diversity. A comprehensive, regional campus within the ten-campus University of Hawaii system, UH Hilo offers high-quality undergraduate and select postgraduate education, with distinctive strengths in areas such as marine science, geology, astronomy, and Hawaiian language revitalization, while advancing research, scholarship, and creative activity that support community needs, environmental stewardship, Indigenous knowledge systems, and workforce development priorities for the State of Hawaii.
The UH Hilo School of Education serves as a resource to area educators teaching in a culturally rich and diverse setting and conducts as well as guides action research to expand knowledge of teaching and learning, providing high quality, integrated, inquiry-and-place-based undergraduate and graduate programs.
This is a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position with duties that include teaching across multiple programs; advising students; coordinating, supervising and supporting field experiences for candidates; engaging in curriculum development, program assessment and accreditation; engaging in scholarly work and publication; performing service to the institution and discipline; and engaging in partnerships with schools, education agencies, out-of-school-time (OST) programs, and the Hawai?i
