Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses through Hawaiian
  • Maintaining Hawaiian as the operational language of the college
  • Further development of the College's laboratory school, especially at the middle school and high school levels
  • Development of teaching/resource materials
  • Participation in the programs of the College for Hawaiin language outreach and other similar endeavors.
  • Teaching/participation in other programs/activities as assigned
  • Activities that lead to meeting the posted tenure requirements of the College
  • Participate as a part of an overall unified effort as a part of the singularity that is the mandated Hawaiian language revitalization goal of the College
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated exemplary proficiency in oral and written Hawaiian with a strong base in traditional Hawaiian culture
  • Master's degree or equivalent in a field related to position duties
  • Familiarity with the College's posted teaching philosophy and ability to operate within It
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within the context of the unique mission of the College and the large range of communities with which it interacts
  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the upper division tertiary and/or graduate level through Hawaiian
  • Experience in teaching/curriculum development at the preschool, elementary, secondary, and/or lower division tertiary levels
  • Community gained qualifications/experience in Hawaiian culture
  • Academic qualifications/training beyond the master's
