Preschool Teacher – Lead Teaching Position, Full‑time, Exempt, East Hawaii Preschool Region (Hilo, Hawaii).
OverviewKamehameha Schools invites qualified educators to create a Hawaiian Culture‑Based learning environment for Native Hawaiian children. The role is a leadership position focused on early childhood education, fostering learner outcomes, and maintaining a culturally grounded, student‑centered classroom.
Responsibilities- Design and implement interdisciplinary, inquiry‑based curricula that reflect Hawaiian culture and values.
- Continuously assess student learning, personalize instruction, and demonstrate a growth mindset toward students and professional development.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for students, fostering whole‑child development (academic, social, emotional, and physical).
- Collaborate with families, colleagues, and community partners to enhance student performance and promote global competence.
- Use data and technology to inform practice, manage classroom environments, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, and participate in professional learning communities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Teaching credential appropriate for early childhood grades.
- At least five (5) years of full‑time teaching experience in early childhood education.
- Knowledge of age‑appropriate instructional strategies such as differentiated instruction and project‑based learning.
- Proficiency in integrating technology and data literacy into lessons.
- Commitment to cultural values, including the Kamehameha Schools mission and E Ola! learner outcomes.
- Deep subject knowledge and ability to develop interdisciplinary plans.
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
- Capacity to manage diverse groups in various instructional settings.
- Skill in differentiating instruction and personalizing learning goals.
- Organizational abilities to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Frequent movement around the classroom, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Work hours Monday‑Friday during school hours; occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
- Potential travel to staff or curriculum development events.
Annual Pay Range: $61,111.00 – $ (adjusted for years of experience and credential level).
