Assistant Professor in Weed Science (0083633)

The Department of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences (PEPS) in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR) at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM) invites applications for an 11‑month, tenure‑track faculty position in Weed Science to support equitable, sustainable, and resilient food and agriculture systems, natural resources, and rural communities. This position is critical to meet CTAHR’s strategic priorities of vibrant tropical and Pacific Island agriculture, food security, ecosystem health, and resilient and thriving communities.

The successful candidate will develop a balanced research and extension program in terrestrial weed management in a tropical environment. This can include food crops or ornamental production systems, pasture ranchlands, natural areas, and urban environments in Hawai‘i. The incumbent is expected to use the understanding of weed ecology to facilitate the development of regionally based integrated weed management strategies, emphasizing biological, physical, and/or chemical approaches.

Other research and extension efforts would be informed by stakeholder needs.
