Position OverviewRoots School is seeking a dedicated and professional Teacher Assistant to support instruction in our K–1 classroom. Working in close partnership with the Lead Teacher, the successful candidate will help maintain a structured, nurturing learning environment and contribute meaningfully to student growth and classroom operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized and small‑group academic support under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
- Assist with classroom management using positive, consistent behavioral guidance strategies.
- Facilitate recess activities and supervise students during transitions, including drop‑off and pick‑up.
- Support lesson preparation, classroom organization, and occasional school events.
- Uphold Roots School's values, policies, and professional and legal standards, including strict confidentiality.
Starting wage: $20/hour
Full‑time schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm (2:30pm dismissal on Wednesdays)

Qualifications- Located on Maui with availability for the full Monday–Friday schedule.
- Demonstrated commitment to early childhood education and child‑centered learning.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully and constructively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proactive, dependable, and able to work collaboratively within a small school community.
- Familiarity with project‑based or experiential learning models is preferred.
