Roots School is an accredited independent school located in Haiku, Maui, serving students from Preschool through 5th Grade. Our program is built on the principles of experiential and project‑based learning, where multi‑age classrooms and a small school allow each child to be known, supported, and challenged. We are guided by a mission to cultivate creativity, critical thinking, integrity, and compassion in every student.

Roots School is seeking a dedicated and professional Teacher Assistant to support instruction in our K–1 classroom. Working in close partnership with the Lead Teacher, the successful candidate will help maintain a structured, nurturing learning environment and contribute meaningfully to student growth and classroom operations.

• Provide individualized and small‑group academic support under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
• Assist with classroom management using positive, consistent behavioral guidance strategies.
• Facilitate recess activities and supervise students during transitions, including drop‑off and pick‑up.
• Support lesson preparation, classroom organization, and occasional school events.
• Uphold Roots School's values, policies, and professional and legal standards, including strict confidentiality.

Starting wage: $20/hour

Full‑time schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm (2:30pm dismissal on Wednesdays)

• Familiarity with project‑based or experiential learning models is preferred.
