Early Childhood Lead Teacher (Pre‑K/Kindergarten)

Honolulu Waldorf School is seeking a dedicated, warm, and collaborative colleague to join our Early Childhood team for the 2026–2027 school year. Our teachers uphold the Waldorf Early Childhood curriculum and cultivate a nurturing classroom life worthy of imitation, guided by the spirit of aloha. We work in close partnership with parents, classroom assistants, and colleagues to support the healthy development of each child and cultivate a strong, caring school community.

Our campus is home to a thriving early childhood program (Parent‑Child, 2 pre‑K, 2 kindergartens) and is located on a 2‑acre campus in Niu Valley. We offer a full Waldorf curriculum from pre‑K through 8th grade, including specialty classes such as Movement, Handwork, Hula, Japanese, Spanish, and Music.

• Uphold a developmentally appropriate Waldorf early childhood curriculum that emphasizes imitation and play‑based, sensory learning.
• Lead storytelling, circle time, artistic activities, practical work, and support outdoor and indoor creative play.
• Create a rich language environment that nurtures phonological awareness, vocabulary development, and expressive language.
• Cultivate the classroom’s seasonal festival life in collaboration with the Early Childhood faculty.
• Observe and document children’s developmental progress to inform report writing, biannual parent conferences, and support readiness for first grade.
• Prepare and maintain a warm, orderly classroom environment, including snack preparation and care of materials.
• Communicate regularly with families through a weekly class letter, parent meetings, and individual conferences.
• Collaborate closely with the Early Childhood Director and faculty, including weekly section meetings and coordination with classroom assistants.
• Share responsibility for maintaining classroom materials, curriculum resources, and the Early Childhood program environment.
• Participate in faculty meetings, in‑service days, school events, and assigned duties such as playground supervision.

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
• Early Childhood Waldorf teaching certification.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to cultivate positive relationships in a supportive and compassionate manner and respond to questions or concerns with care and respect.
• A commitment to professional development.
• Patch Registry and teacher qualifications under the State of Hawaii Childcare Center Licensing.
• United States work authorization.
• Basic computer literacy and organizational skills.
