Program OverviewHawaiian Electric Summer Internships provide students with real‑life experience through a project‑based program focused on digitizing microfilm reels. Interns are mentored, participate in cross‑functional activities, and present their work at the end of the internship.
Responsibilities- Assist with digitization of approximately 4,500 microfilm reels by converting images to electronic records
- Index records and apply file naming conventions
- Provide training on and identify opportunities for process improvements during a 9‑11 week internship
- Collaborate with a dedicated mentor and cross‑functional teams, attend tours and workshops, and present deliverables to the management team
- Current, active student at a post‑secondary institution (college or community college)
- Good academic standing and GPA ≥ 3.0
- Enrolled for Fall 2026 or later, with expected graduation December 2026 or later
- Studying Library, Information Science, Records Management, or related field
- Official transcript available electronically from Registrar (e.g., via Parchment or Student Clearinghouse)
Role: Non‑Exempt
