Job Summary

High School Math Teacher – 2‑year defined term with potential transition to a full‑time regular position, beginning 7/30/2026.

Responsibilities
  • Teach algebra to calculus in a high‑school setting for grades 9 through 12.
  • Demonstrate academic competence and facilitate integrated and interdisciplinary work across the curriculum.
  • Apply student‑centered and culturally responsive instructional practices including Indigenous education, global education, data‑driven curriculum, and technology integration.
  • Develop differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities that align with instructional objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, staff, families, and community partners to enhance student learning and promote Hawaiian cultural values.
  • Use instructional technology and tools to support classroom instruction.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field; advanced degree or state math certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of high‑school math teaching experience.
  • Experience using competency‑based learning and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for differentiated, project‑based, and personalized learning.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Teaching credentials appropriate for secondary level (preferred).
Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of mathematics content and curriculum design.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and manage classroom groups.
  • Strong assessment skills and ability to use data to inform practice.
  • Proficiency with technology applications used in instruction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage time to meet deadlines.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Teaching credentials appropriate for secondary level (preferred).
  • No other licenses required.
Physical Requirements

Frequent movement within and outside the classroom, standing, walking, and light lifting up to 20lb (up to 50lb for construction‑related duties).

Compensation

Work year: 9.75 months. Pay range: $61,111.00 – $ annually.
