Duties:
- Develop and implement Hawaiian language and culturally grounded curriculum and supporting materials for Hoolana program events for staff and students.
- Coordinate and provide cultural curriculum development support and training for Kipuka staff to carry out Hoolana program events.
- Provide cultural expertise, knowledge, and guidance to ensure the cultural integrity of all Hoolana Program events and activities.
- Assist in the development of the academic year master schedule for Hoolana engagement events, ensuring alignment with Native Hawaiian cultural values and educational goals.
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of culturally grounded workshops as part of the overall program curriculum.
- Assist in the development of evaluation tools to assess student and staff learning and program outcomes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the goals of the Kipuka Native Hawaiian Student Center and the Hoolana Program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited university and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for curriculum development or program design incorporating Hawaiian language and culture; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Proficiency in Hawaiian language.
- Experience in developing Hawaiian cultural curriculum.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UH Hilo programs and services.
- Previous experience working in a higher education institution.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Desirable
Qualifications:
- Possession of Master's degree in any field from an accredited university.
- Fluency in Hawaiian language.
