Job Summary
Multiple Civil Engineer III positions are available city‑wide across the Departments of Facility Maintenance, Environmental Services, and Design & Construction. These roles focus on planning, design, construction management, and GIS mapping within critical infrastructure projects.
Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) – Storm Water Quality DivisionFour (4) civil engineer III positions at Kapolei Hale.
What You Will Do- Assist with professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program.
- Plan, design, manage construction, evaluate products, conduct research & development, optimize systems, manage databases, and produce GIS mapping.
- Participate in periodic cross training and supplementary work activities within the division to comply with regulatory obligations.

- Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all technical and administrative activities of simple projects assigned.

Education RequirementGraduation from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.
Experience RequirementTwo years of non‑registered professional civil engineering experience.
Applicable Skills Needed- Civil engineering principles and practices
- Engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials
- Topographic surveying principles and practices
- Structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering concepts as they apply to civil engineering
- Perform civil engineering design work and supervise construction and inspection activities
- Analyze stresses and determine required foundations and structural features
- Supervise a small group of subordinate employees
- Prepare engineering and inspection reports
A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from a regionally accredited college or university substitutes for one year of non‑registered professional civil engineering experience.
Non‑Qualifying ExperienceExperience ongoing while an engineering student intern is not creditable as professional engineering experience. The overall experience must demonstrate the scope, level, and responsibility to perform the duties of this position.
License RequirementPossession of an appropriate valid driver’s license, as required.
