ResponsibilitiesEngineer I performs routine professional engineering work requiring application of basic engineering principles and techniques, according to specific instructions and well‑established practices; also performs other related duties as assigned.
Engineer II performs specific and limited professional engineering assignments requiring standard methods and techniques, which may involve minor phases of a broad project; also performs other related duties as assigned.
Engineer III performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation, and/or evaluation of engineering projects or facilities or assists higher‑level engineers on more complex projects; also performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work: citizen, national, permanent resident, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Basic
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university (substitutions described in the complete Minimum Qualification Requirements). - Engineering
Experience:
None required for Level I;
One (1) year for Level II;
Two (2) years for Level III of progressively responsible professional engineering experience. - Driver’s License:
Some positions may require a valid driver's license. - Special Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry loads of various weights, with or without reasonable accommodation. - Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance:
Required for positions that require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport; must undergo a fingerprint‑based criminal history record check (convictions disqualifying within ten years). - Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Clearance:
Required for positions that require unescorted access to secured areas at the harbor; must undergo a fingerprint‑based criminal history record check (convictions disqualifying within seven years). - Substitutions Allowed:
Relevant substitutions described in the complete Minimum Qualification Requirements apply. - Pending graduates:
Applicants who will graduate within three months and will meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements upon graduation will be accepted for examination. Submit official transcript and letter verifying enrollment, expected graduation date, and major.
