About the job Telecommunications Engineer
Education: Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications or training in telecommunications systems design and network engineering preferred.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in telecommunications systems engineering, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Expertise in Ethernet networks, VLAN configuration, fiber optic systems, and telecommunications infrastructure. Familiarity with government or military telecommunications standards and practices.
Duties- System Design and Implementation
:
Design and develop telecommunications solutions, including Ethernet and fiber optic networks, to meet client requirements. Oversee the installation, configuration, and testing of telecommunications systems and equipment. - Network Performance and Optimization
:
Monitor and evaluate network performance to ensure compliance with operational standards. Implement improvements to optimize bandwidth, reduce latency, and enhance system reliability. - Technical Troubleshooting
:
Diagnose and resolve complex telecommunications issues, including connectivity problems and system faults. Provide technical guidance to support teams and ensure efficient resolution of issues. - Documentation and Compliance
:
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and test plans. Ensure all telecommunications solutions adhere to federal, military, and industry-specific regulations and standards. - Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
:
Work closely with project managers, technicians, and government representatives to align project deliverables with client expectations. Serve as a technical advisor for project teams and provide input on system upgrades and new technologies.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Telecommunications Network Specialist (CTNS), Nokia Network Routing Specialist (NRS) or Nokia Service Routing Architect (SRA), or Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (CFOS) preferred. Security-related certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Cisco Security) are advantageous.
ClearanceMust possess or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Eligibility to work on federal and military telecommunications systems requiring secure access.
TravelAbility and willingness to travel to various project sites in Hawaii or other designated locations as required. Must have a valid drivers license and meet travel requirements, including overnight stays.
