Economic or Community Development Project Assistant

Assists in the conduct of economic or community development projects and initiatives; conducts fact finding and analyses; prepares reports of findings and conclusions and economic development recommendations; and performs other related duties as required. There is one (1) immediate temporary full-time vacancy not-to-exceed 06/30/2027 with the Department of Research and Development in Hilo. The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list.

Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.

Training and

Experience:

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree (scan and attach a copy of your official college transcript to your application), and
• Two (2) years of work experience involving the compilation, examination, analyses, and interpretation of statistical and other data, and
• Possession of a valid State of Hawai'i driver's license (Class
  3) or any other valid comparable driver's license at time of filing. (You will be required to submit your valid driver's license at time of hire.)

Foreign transcripts must be accompanied by an official credential evaluation report to determine U.S. equivalency. (Scan and attach a copy of your official credential evaluation report to your application.) Examination:
All applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be assigned a score of 70 points. An education and experience evaluation will be conducted based on the applicant's training, education and experience as presented in the application. Knowledge of: principles and theories of marketing and business administration; research and statistical methods, techniques, and procedures; economic resource materials and sources; familiarity of governmental organization and functions; trends in state and local planning; report writing; and public relations. Ability to: analyze facts and develop sound conclusions, recommendations, and plans in conformance with the objectives of the county's economic development program;

recognize data trends, problems and interpret their significance; establish and maintain effective relationship with other employees, community organizations, other governmental agencies, private business organizations, legislators, and the public; and express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
