. This vacancy is with the Department of Transportation - Highways Division.
Salary: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR-11 Step C to I).
Responsibilities- Independently purchases a wide range of goods, supplies, equipment, services, etc., for the organization using informal purchasing methods and performs other related duties as assigned.
Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic
Experience:
Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions, and perform basic arithmetic computations, including percentages. Experience may be met from part‑time and/or unpaid work. Must have continuous participation. Equivalent to graduation from high school.
General
Experience:
Two (2) years of responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to request information from others, explain procedural requirements orally and in writing, and knowledge/experience as described in sections A or B below or a combination of both.
- A. Experience demonstrating possession and application of a good working knowledge of governmental purchasing methods, laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and requirements. Examples: account clerical or pre‑audit work involving examination of documents supporting governmental purchases for validity and accuracy, preparation or review and approval of vouchers authorizing payments.
- B. Experience preparing and submitting requisitions for purchasing that involved gathering information regarding products and alternatives, obtaining prices or quotations, writing requisitions for submittal, and demonstrating understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, and requirements.
Driver's License: Some positions require that applicants possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
