Public Housing Supervisor V - Hilo, Hawaii

Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I).

Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the operations of a public housing project or projects. This includes planning, organizing and coordination of project operations; investigating tenant complaints and difficulties; fostering and establishing working relationships with community groups and other agencies for the benefit of the residents and the Hawaii Public Housing Authority; developing tenant recreation and social activities; inspecting property to ascertain the need for repairs;

and performing other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

• Legal Authorization To Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Basic
  
  Education:
  
  A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  Two and one-half years of professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas:
  • Progressively responsible work which required participation in, or the conduct of, most of the operational activities normally associated with housing projects, including: development and implementation of local policies, procedures and work plans; supervision and training of subordinate personnel; budgetary control and fiscal management of funds related to project operations, maintenance and repair; evaluation of operating and maintenance costs and practices; rental and occupancy activities (tenant selection, dwelling unit assignment, etc.);
    
    community and tenant relations.
  • Progressively responsible work in real property management as an employee or agent of a real estate firm, bank, insurance company, etc., engaged in the control and conduct of multiple unit residential housing operations. Knowledge of rent schedules, property rental/lease negotiation, property maintenance and repair, and fund management.
• Supervisory or Staff
  
  Experience:
  
  One year of professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas:
  • Planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; assigning and reviewing their work; advising them on difficult work problems; training and developing subordinates; evaluating their work performance.
  • Experience in the field of public housing, real property management, or related fields as a staff specialist involved in conducting studies, making recommendations for standards, policies, procedures; giving technical advice and direction; gathering data; recommending staff improvements; securing cooperation and support of private and public agencies and community organizations; collecting and analyzing data on present and projected manpower needs; and evaluating standards, policies, procedures, and techniques pertaining to public housing activities.
